Chrome mechanical materials can be defined as steel with added levels of chromium to increase the strength and corrosion resistance mainly used in CO2 rich environments where other grades of steel would corrode more quickly. Chrome mechanical tube and bar are machined frequently for downhole completion tools, and 13cr-L80 is the most commonly used martensitic stainless steel for OCTG products.
